More performance, more value
I’ve been told that some mangers are having head aches over the economic climate and how to motivate an older workforce. To add to these woes, any development initiative needs to demonstrate value for money.
Research reveals the following:
• 50% of managers and workers attempt to blend in with their organisations by putting on a show! The cost of such a strategy can be a loss of influence with fellow staff/ clients and the individual themselves may have a weaker sense of personal direction.
• Staff in transition (such as women expecting their first child, a person in their first management job and people with health issues) rarely deliver their top performance.
• The current economic climate is adversely affecting much of the population.
Solutions for:
Older work force
Training designed to help individual’s link their personal values to performance. This can really help jump start motivation.
Being authentic
Coaching Can be a safe environment for an individual to decide how to reveal more of the real person. Personal benefits can include more motivation, energy and impact. Organisational benefits better communication, improved relationships and clearer feedback – fuelling on going change.
Staff in transition There is plenty of psychological research that demonstrates that coaching can help with people rapidly integrate new learning and increase performance.
Distractions: Training or coaching allowing people to learn from world class performers about how to keep focused.
